Put your leather on and show up. It's that simple!
What a winter we had! Just when we thought we could relax because the holidays were over ... January came along and it was pretty busy. Peter and I took a trip out to Los Angeles for the very first Eagle LA Mr. Leather 2007 contest. I think the only thing the folks in LA could have done for us was get us a private jet - LOL. What an amazing experience!!! The following weekend was MAL and we all know how much fun and wild that can be! Then came my fundraiser "Jail and Bail." What a great time! Guys were flogged, paddled and tied up. Dean Flynn from Titan was there to help raise money for "Safer + Saner."
Speaking of "Safer + Saner" (www.safersaner.org), check out their monthly FUNK!FRIDAYS party the first Friday of every month at The Eagle. GRUFF parties are the last Friday of the month at The Eagle and Maxx Scott has been bringing in some nasty men and hot porn stars. When you're done there, check out www.m8ny.com for the latest nasty, kinky, parties going on in NYC. I don't know how he does it, but Mike Peyton is doing a great job keeping up with all that is happening!
Along with February came the time to start planning for "Braking the Cycle" (www.brakingthecycle.org). This will be my 4th year as team captain along with my partner Peter. Check out the Team Eagle page at www.teameaglenyc.org. This will also be the 2nd year that I'll be leading the Poz Peddler program. The Poz Peddlers are a group of people living with HIV/AIDS committed to eliminating the stigma of disease through our positive public example. Watch for all kinds of information and fundraisers throughout the year. After many meetings, it was off to Asbury Park to judge their 2nd Annual Chili Cook Off. The folks in NJ sure can cook some awesome Chili!!!
March is here and now it's time to put all of that planning to work. We held our 1st Annual Leather Affair dinner at Philip Marie (www.philipmarie.com). What an amazing time. Getting together 15 MEN in full leather for a great meal and great conversation, all to help support the AIDS Research Program at NYU (http://www.hivinfosource.org/first_call/index.html). This small group of men were able to raise $2,200.00 for this great cause. Of course, this would not have been possible without the help of the New York boys of leather (www.newyorkboysofleather.com) Then off to porno bingo with Will Clark (www.willclarkpresents.com) to help raise money for the Poz Peds.
Peter and I were invited to the 18th Annual GLAAD Media awards. We put on our best duds and headed to the party. Getting on the subway I found that I was more comfortable riding the subway in leather rather than a suit, how funny!! We traveled up to Inwood one night for a dinner, in leather, and no one on the subway said a word. My point is "Put your leather on and show up. It's that simple". It's New York after all. New Yorkers have seen it all and they don't care.
SPRING is here FINALLY!!! Which basically means that it's time to open the house on Fire Island and get ready for the summer!!! Men, Pool, Hot tub, Cigars - Nothing better!!!
